Touch the Water

August 19, 2017, 11:00pm - August 21, 2017, 1:00am

What if for one day we forgot about our superficial divisions and consentrated on the truth that binds us? What if for one day people focussed on love and gratitude and stepped away from the fear and confusion this system feeds on? What if, for one day, we turned away from our technology and sat in nature together? We propose a day for just that. August 20th everywhere all day at the waters edge Using the newly revealed qualities of water we can combine our energies while we all show our love and gratitude in our own unique ways

Our Existence is Resistance: Cannupahanska Luger

February 24, 2017, 6:00pm - February 24, 2017, 9:00pm

Born in North Dakota on the Standing Rock Reservation, artist Cannupa Hanska Luger comes from Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara, Lakota, Austrian, and Norwegian descent. Luger's unique, ceramic-centric, but ultimately multidisciplinary work tells provocative stories of complex Indigenous identities coming up against 21st Century imperatives, mediation, and destructivity. Luger creates socially conscious work that hybridizes his identity as an American Indian in tandem with global issues. Using his art as a catalyst, Luger invites the public to challenge expectations and misinterpretations imposed upon Indigenous peoples by historical and contemporary colonial social structures. Cannupa Hanska Luger currently holds a studio practice in New Mexico, maintaining a clear trajectory of gallery and museum exhibitions worldwide. www.cannupahanska.com Join us for a evening of positive soical change, awareness, and inspiration! #NODAPL #waterislife #mniwiconi #monsterslayer

On This Day (2/4/1847): In 1847 the Siege of Pueblo de Taos was fought. It was the final battle during the main phase of the Taos Revolt, an attempt by the Taos people to protect their land and pueblo against the United States during the Mexican-American War. On February 3, Colonel Sterling Price entered Taos where he found the Natives well entrenched at the fortified pueblo. Price assembled an artillery battery and began laying siege to the pueblo, hoping to drive out the Natives. After two day's of bombardment, the Pueblo was breached and troops swarmed in. Many Natives tried to escape, but were killed - in total over 150 Natives were killed and another 400 were captured.

Update... for those who don't watch videos...
"Easement has not been approved as of tonight (1/31).
2 ND senators started the rumor using media to spread propganda
A letter by the Army to ACOE was made telling them to grant the easement, BUT there is still the EIS to do.. will an easement be fast tracked, probably. ..
When we don't know a time frame.
Are water protectors needed, yes.. be self sufficient, come help clean n plan.. but be prepared!"

Hi!

On March 22nd 2017, it's the United Nation's World Water Day, the Water is Life Movement is contacting different organizations and Native Tribes in the United States, in Canada and Worldwide to make a significant peaceful action all in the same time, at the same moment, Nations wide, to declare that Water is Life-Mni Wiconi.

We invite you to organize an action on that night at 6h00pm PST time zone, 7h00pm MST time zone, 8h00pm CST time zone, 9h00pm Est time zone (time zones for the United States and Canada). For example, people could gather in the city around a water source that is exposed to public viewing like a fountain, a bridge, a port, etc. and everybody can lit a candle. Public speakers could be invited and especially Native women, if they're interested, as they are the guardians of water.

Send all the information of your event to contact@waterislifemovement.com and you will see it put up on the Action Calendar of the website: www.waterislifemovement.com .

We invite you also to take a look at this site which is dedicated to centralize all the information for the continuation of the Water is Life movement that started in Standing Rock. Please take pictures of the action and send it back so we can gather them all and put them up.

For general inquiries, more information or discussion on this matter, you can contact me at stephanie@waterislifemovement.com We're all in this together, let's bring out a significant message on March 22nd. …
