Dear El Pasoans who drink water,

We NEED to push for regulations on lead water rules and hold those who sell us this water and our elected officials responsible. As warned last year, many El Paso homes have pipes that chemically combust into a toxic state when El Paso Water Utility water passes through them. A prominent El Paso Water Utility board member, messaged me to reprimand the awareness campaign we launched (see below)- most noteably featuring the reconfigured water utility man logo (which prompted a sudden change in the El Paso Water Utilities logo.) ... In that message, she admits tjat the issue is with the pipes, but we as El Paso water drinkers deserve the right to demand SAFER LEAD WATER RULES. EL PASO, THERE IS LEAD IN THE WATER HIGHER THAN FLINT (see El Paso Times link in the FB NOTE published a year ago).
Nothing in El Paso Texas has been done to address this issue.

PLease listen to todays NPR Flint Water Crisis story to prepare for the fight of our lives. #WaterIsLife #AguaEsVida #TodosSomosFlint

This petition started and focused on the Holly Energy Pipeline out in far east El Paso, TX in order to zoom in and describe how these pipelines affect our community. However, the letter attached to the petition opposes all current and future oil and gas pipelines in Texas. 4 binders of close to 2,000 pages, printed front and back, with close to 44,000 signatures, opposing oil and gas pipelines in Texas go out today. Previous to this, about 55,000 signatures, focusing on the Comanche Trail Pipeline (but with also the same letter) were sent to TX Governor Greg Abbott, electronically. This time we thought it would be better to send a physical copy for emphasis and impact. The Railroad Commission of Texas, and the El Paso County Commissioners received an electronic copy. #waterislife ...

Frontera Water Protection Alliance shared Indigenous Rising Media's post. ...

One year ago today, we put our hearts on the line. One year ago today, we put our bodies on the line. One year ago today, we put our prayer on the line. We remember that on this day, 2016, Morton County Police raided the #NoDAPL #TreatyCamp and water protectors faced off against sound cannons, tear gas, concussion grenades, rubber bullets, tasers and pure police aggression. There are many water protectors out there who carry trauma from what happened on October 27th, 2016 at Standing Rock. Collectively we send prayers and positive energy to all those still healing, near and far. And we remember that the struggle is not over, that we will continue to protect the sacred, defend our Indigenous rights, and never give up, ever and always. This fight is for the benefit of the water, the land, the air and all generations of life living on Mother Earth. We are merely enacting our sacred duty to be the best relatives we can be. #KeepItInTheGround #IndigenousRising

Earlier in the year, the Regional Renewable Energy Committee recommended to City Council to apply to the SolSmart program, a program “that provides recognition and no-cost technical assistance to help local governments teduce barriers to solar energy growth. Local governments that achieve these goals are eligible for SolSmart designation, providing national recognition that they are “open for solar business.”” City Council approved application to be submitted. El Paso received the Gold Standard making El Paso one of two cities in Texas and among few nationally to get Gold. A press conference was held to announce to the media, therefore the public, of this exciting news. Eagles are special sacred winged relatives to many cultures because of how high they can fly to carry up our prayers to the creators. Because of the harmony and loyalty they represent once they choose their mate. High, high up in the sky when they are actually mating, they lock their talons together so that they are intertwined and they begin a free fall from way up in the sky and before they hit the ground they release and do it again. And the mate they choose will be the only mate for life. A lot of us humans can't even do that!

It's sad at the rate our activities destroy and destruct all that lives on this planet including the earth itself and our own lives. We pray that we can each be awake enough to be much more mindful of each other and what we share this planet with and how fragile each living moment is here on this earth. …
